What do we do?

Workshops

A key aspect of our work is our Workshops, which are held in coordination with or at the request of schools. These are modular and can be adjusted according to the needs of your school. The workshops are administered by our training department, which make use of our best debaters and judges to introduce students to what debating is.

The Programme
Our lessons are always built upon firstly introducing the students to the strategy behind formal debating, including argument construction, rhetorical tools and rebuttal strategies. Subsequently, they will be allowed to put their knowledge into use through exercises or full debates, depending on their skills and level of comfort.
Our Workshops
We are both available for one-time workshops and full training programs. Our one-time workshops usually last between 2-4 hours and can for example be used in connection with English or Social Science theme days or as a way to diversify a double module. Our training programs consist of 3-6 workshops (2 hours each) and are optimal as an after-school debate club offer for interested students. Get in contact with us and hear what we can do for you!

Since Danish Debate Association’s foundation, tournaments have been an integral part of what we do.
It was as a result of our flagship tournament, Nordic Schools Debating Championship that our founders decided to launch the organization, after seeing the potential that debating had in Denmark.

Tournaments

Our Tournaments

Our tournaments vary greatly in size, with our smallest tournaments consisting of a couple of local teams, to sprawling international tournaments. Whether local or global, our tournaments always consists of multiple rounds of debating with experienced judges and organizers, striving to create the best experince for students to grow and improve.

School Tournaments

If your school already has well established debate culture in WSDC or BP format, we would be more than happy to provide a setting for students to test their abilities with our school tournaments, which can be combined with our training programme with ease.

If, however, you would like to partake in bigger events, a general overview of our tournaments can be found below, or on our Facebook page.

"My debate team and I participated in the NSDC 2018. We had been to many international debate tournaments before going to the NSDC - so our expectations were high.
We were not disappointed!
It was a fantastic venue and a great experience meeting and debating teams from all over the globe. We are without a doubt going to the NSDC again!"

As an initiative for those interested in figuring out what debate is, we launched our Novice Tournament in 2018 as an opportunity to do just that.

Combining coaching and debating in an relaxed and social climate, it gives the opportunity for students to figure out what debating is, and how it can help them. Spanning 10 hours, the tournament includes workshops and multiple rounds of debates, judged by DDA’s own judges.

"I have participated twice with different teams, and it has been an amazing experience for my students as they got a unique opportunity for developing their abilities through workshops, coaching and competitive debates. The students found it fun and exciting, and returned home with confidence and an interest in debating"
